We are very pleased to be part of King’s College which is one of the oldest and largest colleges of the University of London demonstrating excellence at a national and international level. King's has a particularly distinguished reputation in the humanities, law, international relations, medicine and the sciences, and has played a major role in many of the advances that have shaped modern life, such as the discovery of the structure of DNA. It is the largest centre for the education of healthcare professionals in Europe and is home to four Medical Research Council Centres more than any other university.
Background
From 1st September 2006 the Twin Research Unit transferred to King’s College London (KCL). The rationale for the transfer was guided by two principles. Firstly, that the research work of the Twin Unit sits more appropriately within an academic environment rather than the NHS. Secondly, Professor Spector held an honorary contract with King’s College in recognition of his academic and research contribution. Therefore such an arrangement was considered mutually beneficial to KCL and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
What does this mean in practice?
Twin volunteers will not experience any change. We will continue to be based at out current location in St Thomas’ Hospital and there will be no change in the research visit or the staff you see. The only small difference you may notice is the new letterheads which show the King’s College London logo.

We look forward to your continued support with our research.
