'A twin study of migraine with and without aura, incorporating linkage analyses to identify potential candidate genes involved'

The aim of this study was to carry out a study of migraine in a large sample of female twins using a validated diagnostic questionnaire to

  1. confirm a significant genetic component to the disease,
  2. conduct linkage analyses to contribute further evidence of loci involved in migraine and
  3. identify potential candidate genes that could be tested in association studies.
During the first year we have successfully completed the first aim and we are now ready to run the linkage analysis on those DZ twins who have previously had genome scans (ii). Achieving our third aim will depend on the results of this linkage work.
